Good Morning Ladies.

Happy New Year to all !!

This day always brings new hope....saying goodbye to the painful experiences of last year, and hoping this new year will bring health and happiness to all family and friends.

Last year was a painful one for me....and since November, I've been working hard to heal my wounds and start anew.  I've been in touch with two members of Jim's family - they've been very kind to me, and I've received invitations to visit California and Arizona, and tickets will be provided if I go.  Too bad Jim was so stubborn - he could have healed some of his own wounds.

I've been doing a lot better food-wise these past few weeks too.  Oprah's statement "If not now, when?" really struck a cord with me.  As we get older, we realize every day counts.  I have eliminated all breads and starches, and have signed off of the popcorn and peanuts I've been indulging in; eating dense protein first at every meal, pre-planning and logging, and keeping my numbers in line.  I want to get some new low-carb recipes for my pressure cooker/crockpot.  I see those "boxed meal delivery programs" advertised, and I think how silly to spend all that money when you can buy the ingredients yourself for a lot less money.  I am going to make an effort to search online for a new recipe every week to cook - want to get out of the habit of eating "the same old same old".

I wish all of my friends here a healthy and happy new year.  Less mental and physical pain and more happiness and joy.

Mary

Mary,

I hope 2016 is filled with success and with happiness for you. Identifying the foods that glide right through your pouch into your small intestine where they are already ripe for absorption. My doctor explained that when we eat dense proteins such as meat, fish, beans, etc., they are more fibrous and hit are pouch and fill it up quick...when they leave the pouch, because of the size of the pouch and the limited function, they are not as easy to reap the benefits from so they get pushed out of our small intestine quickly and by the time they hit the large intestine, they have lost their benefit to us because they will be eliminated. Glidder foods such as popcorn, crackers, chips, bread, potatoes, cakes, etc. are pretty liquified by the time they get to our pouch because we usually drink something with them and our saliva breaks them down much quicker than fibrous vegetables or proteins so they hit our small intestine and they are physically broken down and the digestive juices break them into molecules that our small intestine absorbs and sends to our various body parts that can utilize them and for us who have a history of obesity, fat cells take priority so gliders give our fat cells materials to grow....When my doctor explained that to me, I limited the glider foods immediately.

I hope you get to travel soon and live life to its fullest.

Good Morning Mary and everyone....

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

Hello Mary....it sounds like you are making some very good changes with your eating and weight loss goals. That is wonderful. You are really working on finding yourself once again. That is a huge goal!! You are reaching out to so many people and finding out how much these people all do care about you. You are no longer strapped to your recliner. What a wonderful relief that must be!!! You keep going, I am very proud of you!!!

As for me..... I am waiting for Nic and Stephanie to get here for lunch. They stayed at Uncle Tom's for the night. They have an extra bedroom and bath for them. It will be easier for them there. My small one bedroom one bath can get pretty crowded pretty fast. They only live a couple miles from here. They didn't get in town last night until 9:00. I told them to go to Tom's and unload and rest up. They drove so many miles around Iowa on their way here. I was tired and glad to go to bed! I am just not a night person anymore.

Good news...Amanda and Tyler bought a house. It is older and needs some work but it is very sound and the electricity and many other things are new. They are so excited!! Now they can move out of Amanda's dad's house. He too has a small home and already has Lucas living there and sometimes Will (cousin) too. Amanda said they are cleaning all the floors this weekend and wiping cupboards and things out. The people that owned it left it clean but Amanda is like her Grandy and it still needs cleaning. LOL!! They plan on sleeping there on Saturday night! Knowing them they will have it all done and they will be sleeping there!! They will still be living in the Minneapolis/St Paul area but closer to me. More on the north side of the Cities. Now I am excited. I used to live not far from there and love that area. I am going to start looking for housing there!

I wish you all a great day!! Take time to do a Act of Kindness.

Prayers for our loving OFF Family and their families. Special prayers as requested.

Loads of love and bunches of hugs to all....connie d

Hi Mary and others,

I just feel lousy today. It's not that unusual for me to feel sad on New Year's Day. It seems to be the way it has always been for me. I am not at all disabled by it but I wi**** would go away. I have a very good life. Not perfect, but good. My constitution is just on the sad side.

I am not ready to set up my goals yet. I am going to do it after I get past this little sad spell. Today I will concentrate on getting Christmas put away. One foot in front of the other...

I hope that I am the only one that does this...enjoy your celebration and plan a wonderful year!

Ladies,

New Years Eve was quiet around here. I did make it to midnight and the grandkids and I ran outside and yelled Happy New Year to the world and we watched some fireworks that were part of the celebration on the square. Then, I colored in my adult coloring books (not porn but those graphically designed for the maturer person).  Before I knew it, everyone was asleep and I was still coloring away. I think I found my way to relax...

Well today we ate our black eyed peas, potatoes, and cornbread. I made the kids salmon. And DH and grands gave me gifts, which I loved. I got more coloring books and some new coloring pencils and fine point markers...and a new iPad case...some lotion and perfume. I think I am set for another year. LOL

True to my plan, I started cutting down on the caffeine.  I did make a 12 cup pot out of habit but after my second cup, I poured it all out.  I've drank two huge bottles of water and have only had a little diet coke...so far, I've not had a bad headache but I realize that I probably have enough caffeine stored in my system to last me a while. LOL

I hope you all have a very good day, and I hope your new year is fabulous.

I am going to finish a picture of flowers that I started this morning....hopefully I will zone out...will listen to Elton and hope all is well with the world.

Peace Ladies.
